What can I say? BulletStorm is a really great game in so many ways….but….what a ripoff. We buy first person shooters (1PS) for mainly the online multi-player aspect, right? Of course. Well, plenty buy it for the story and campaign. And the single player campaign is actually good. But the horrible thing about BulletStorm is it only has oneonline multi-player mode. The only thing they have is like horde on Gears of War 2 called Anarchy. And from what we understand, Epic and People Can Fly are going to add more multi-player game options through DLC. BULLSHIT! Total BULLSHIT. They are going to charge us money for what should have been included with the game at $60.00+. But instead, if we want a more complete game, we must pay more money. Again, Bullshit! The game play is choice to say the least. The graphics are really good, but not great, and the controls are very nice, but the online mode simply sucks and gets old real fast. As you are playing, you stay on the same map the entire game (choose from one of six). So after completing 5 or 6 levels on the same map, it gets really repetitious. It gets boring. This game could have been great. Instead, it’s bad. And a waste of money for any 1PS lover. Sorry People Can Fly and Epic Games. We are only giving you a 2 out of 5. Add 4 or 5 more online modes at no charge, and we could easily give you a 4 out of 5 or 5 out of 5. The main reason for this low ass rating: You should have given us several online modes out the gate. Not try and milk the consumer for something we already paid for. BTW, the first DLC is giving us 5 new maps total for $10.00. Bullshit again. Stop being a money hungry gaming company and stop taking advantage of gamers. If $60.00 per game isn’t enough for you, find another industry to screw.

Explanation of Modes:

Single Player Campagne – NO Co-op at all

Echoes Mode – Go against your friends scores

Anarchy – Just like horde in Gears 2. That’s it.

Gears of War 3 Release Date Revealed!
LONDON – 23 February 2011 – Get your calendar out, get a pen, and mark the 20th September 2011 as the day when Gears of War 3, this year’s biggest blockbuster title, launches worldwide.
Gears of War 3 is the glorious conclusion to one of the most memorable sagas in video games’ history and this is a date you certainly don’t want to miss.

The story takes place eighteen months after the events of Gears of War 2 and the loss of the human stronghold of Jacinto.  Marcus, Baird, Dom and company continue their fight to save human civilisation, as they battle the Locust and face new threats from within the planet throughout the campaign mode.

Here is what else you can expect from 2011’s most highly anticipated game:

·         An enthralling cinematic story that captivates players in an intimately intense action game
·         Five-on-five multiplayer experience as well as four player campaign co-op experience
·         New multiplayer game modes including ‘Beast Mode’ – offering a new twist to the game where you take on the role of the locust horde and their assorted variations!
·         New maps including: Trenches which features an impressive sand storm that reduces your visibility, as well as Overpass, Mercy, Checkout, and Thrashball
·         New weapons including: The Bayonet Charge, The Retro Lancer, The Sawed-off Shotgun, The OneShot – a heavy sniper rifle that shoots through shields or cover for a surprise one shot kill, The Incendiary Grenade, The Digger Launcher and a few subtle tweaks to old favourites Hammerburst and The Classic Lancer. Don’t forget that each weapon now has its own execution move!
Stay tuned for more updates, and keep your eyes peeled for more news on the Official Multiplayer Public Beta coming soon!

A growing tradition, a clan match is where two gaming teams face-off against each other in a competition playing an online video game. Or, if you prefer, the Urban Dictionary definition is ”When two teams in a video game fight each other to see who’s better.” Never the less, where can you go to make a clan, join a clan, or bring your clan for a clan match? We found several sites that actually host clans and clan matches, and it seems to be a growing trend. Of course the most popular site is GameBattles (GB), but we are steering toward the less popular, more innovative and up & coming sites.

Let’s start with GameTaste (www.GameTaste.com): GameTaste has more than 3,000 members, a chat system, instant messaging, personal profiles where each individual can post their music player, pics, favorite games, 1v1 win/loss record, favorite videos, gaming news, and more. For the clan itself GameTaste offers a team page listing the clan members, the clans win/loss record, occasional tournaments where clans can win “Cash from their couch”, and an exclusive automatic scheduling system where clans can automatically be scheduled in a clan match when they wish. GameTaste also offers a free buy/sell/trade video game ebay type system (www.ByeGamez.com), and more than 2800 free flash games to keep you busy when you are bored.

Next we have Clantacular (www.Clantacular.com): Clantacular is a cool place for clan match discussions, gaming news, posting clan match videos, pictures, artwork, starting a group for discussions, etc. In essence, you and your clan could join, start a group amongst yourselves, and perfect your attack plan for your next match.

Then there is Fugamer (www.Fugamer.com): Fugamer is hell bent on allowing their clans the permission to trash talk during a clan match (their motto is “Be Youself”). Setting that aside, Fugamer has a really nice ladders script for clan matches and an instant match finder. The profiles aren’t much, and the site is a little difficult to navigate, but all in all Fugamer is nice for the older gamers and clans.

Next is z8games (www.z8games.com): z8games is really cool except it is only for the down-loadable PC game Cross Fire. But the site is well organized and offers to keep your online stats to a T. If you like the game Cross Fire, or would like to try it, z8games is waiting for you this very minute.

Finally we have ClanMatcher (www.ClanMatcher.com): ClanMatcher is a very simple (we mean very very simple) match making system. All it does is match you with another clan who wants to play a clan match right this minute. It doesn’t even keep track of who won or lost. All it does is make the match. And that’s it. But it will match you on any continent, on any game system, and any game you wish. All in all, ClanMatcher is very effective in what it does. Too bad there’s not a dating site like this…..

So that’s it. If you find a Clan Match site you think is sick, tell us about it in the comments section below.

With 2010 behind us, all we can do is play COD: Black Ops and look ahead. What kind of year will 2011 be for the shooter genre? In our opinion, the best. Lets take a look at some of the most prominent shooters.

BulletStorm: We have played the demo over and over and over and over, and this game has the amazing potential to satisfy our most inner testosterone filling needs. How ever gross and full of over-bearing bad language, we like it. We may even love it.

Gears of War 3: After the incredible “360 Saviour” Gears of War, Epic Games followed up with a stinker in Gears of War 2. But we know Epic, we know Cliffy, and we know Gears of War 3 will totally kick ass. The beta will run on dedicated servers, and the finished game will have host migration (for those lag switchers and terrible connections). This game has Game of the Year written all over it, and we hope it becomes what we dream of.

Rage: Damn. I mean, oh shit DAMN! Rage introduces a new build engine which blows away current day graphics. And the gameplay (according to people who have played it) is amazing, amazing, amazing! Imagine Left 4 Dead on super steroids with a ton of whoop-ass injected every 5 seconds. This game may set an entire new standard.

Duke Nukem Forever: It’s finally time to kick ass and chew bubble gum!!! After 13 years of waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and, well, you know, we finally get to walk in the boots of the original bad-ass hero. The graphics look tight, the game play is polished, and the story is, well, Duke all the way baby. This could become the best selling game of 2011 just because the hype. But we think it will be really good, and hopefully worth the wait.

Killzone 3: We have been playing the beta on PSN and this game is really good. The problem, the PS3 controller makes it too difficult to aim and shoot. If only we could hook our 360 controller to the PS3. And not a knock off controller either. We can’t help but wonder if the control problems are in the game itself. But the graphics and online play are truly incredible. All in all KZ3 has amazing potential to be at the top of the PS3 list…But not at the top of the 1PS list. There is just too much competition and the 360 is almost always better when it comes to first person shooters.

Resistance 3: There are allot of 3′s out this year, and if you wanted to look at a track record to pick a winner, this would be that winner. Resistance has always been a quality franchise, so we expect the 3rd installment to be better than ever. This game also has the potential to become game of the year.

Battlefield Bad Company 3: With a whole new build engine with improved graphics and gameplay, now Dice has the ex-crew from Infinity Ward to perfect this franchise. And it will be released this Holiday season, meaning 2011. We are expecting this game to also set a new standard, and possibly knock off Call of Duty as the #1 1PS. Don’t be surprised if BFBC3 totally rocks. Thank you Mr. Zampella and Mr. West.

Modern Warfare 3: There is plenty of hope, even though Infinity Ward split up and most of the talent went to EA. The reason for that hope…The left over skeleton crew from Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and two other Activision developers lending a big helping hand in the development of MW3. We have hope, but we are prepared for disappointment.

Homefront: We are not expecting much, because we don’t know much. The game play looks mediocre and the graphics seem plain. Perhaps we are wrong, and we hope we are, but this just might be a run-of-the-mill shooter.

Fear 3: This Fear may become known for amazing co-op, but we hope the other multi-player aspects will prove better than the last entry Fear 2. We feel very confident that the story will be scary sick, but looking at the trailers and promo’s you can’t help but wonder “why no upgrades in graphics?” Yes, we are quite picky and we expect better everything with each step in a franchise.

Doom 4: We don’t know much except Doom started it all. And the developer, id Software, is capable of the graphics we’ve seen in Rage. So there is planty of hope.

Crysis 2: we have played the 360 demo and all we can say is that Crysis 2 is alot like Halo. To us, that’s not a good thing, but we expect it to shine more on the PC than on the consoles. The demo is good, but not ground breaking. Let’s hope the actual game is much better.

So that’s it. We didn’t include all shooters for 2011, just the ones we feel have the most potential. Hit us back with your comments and thoughts.

www.GameTaste.com has gone away from the GameBattles norm in how a clan match is made. GameTaste, a clan based social gaming site for gaming teams, introduced the G-TASS scheduling system several years ago so clans could pick one of many time slots and automatically be scheduled in a clan match. Most of the slots are during the weekends since that is when most gamers are on. The way the system works is, once you have signed your clan up on GameTaste, you goto the edit team scheduling page where there are dozens of schedule times for dozens of games. You are able to see how many clans are already scheduled in each slot (but not which clans), then you choose your slot or slots you wish to play in. Every week there after you and your clan will be automatically scheduled in a clan match. Very nifty. The parent company of GameTaste, National Championship Gaming (www.NCGpro.com), also has an instant clan matching site at www.ClanMatcher.com. We will talk about that site in a future article. Until then, clans rule the world!

Doritos has come up with an incredible way to make commercials….the let you make it. This year there were three, and our personal favorite wasn’t everyones (we liked the one where Doritos brought grandpa back to life). However, the Doggy Dorito placed highest according to Neilson. But here is one we found which was banned by Doritos….and it references zombies! Oh yeah!
